"Our Powerbags have been an enormously useful addition to our training apparatus. They have provided us with a versatile tool that we have consistently used in our programme. They are excellent for power development and functional circuits and we have also utilised them in the gym within rehab, prehab and core training. With a small amount of imagination they can provide a good deal of variety in a programme and I would highly recommend them."
Pete Atkinson. Head Strength & Conditioning Coach. Saracens RFC.

"Powerbags are such a versatile training tool. I've trained rugby players, combat athletes, soccer players and rehab clients with great results. Powerbag workshop was a fun time. Lots of great practical ideas and applications to training a wide range of clients. Powerbags are a sports trainer's dream tool. I use these on a regular basis training NZ's top athletes. These are fantastic for explosive work. I often use power bags as part of a circuit - they allow you to crank up the intensity to boiling."

"At the Sport Council for Wales, we use Powerbags with many of the sports people as they are versatile, portable and easy to use. The athletes enjoy using them as they add an additional aspect to their training - such as sports specific rotational power - which they may not be able to achieve in the gym but can do on court!"
Paul Bunce. Head of Strength and Conditioning at the Welsh Institute of Sports.

"The range of Powerbags has proved to be a great addition to my training toolkit. With a few Powerbags I am able to train a full range of clients from those with rehabilitation and general conditioning requirements to clients with elite Sports performance needs. Additionally the Powerbag represents great value, is easy to use and due to its soft makeup can be used in any training environment from the home to the pitch. It makes a great piece of equipment to have at home when you can't make the gym."

"Powerbags have been a great tool in our physical preparation of the Saints Players. We like the infinite variability to training methods they give us plus transference from weight training. We use them for developing core power movements in the gym and on the training field, plus for high intensity field and gym based anaerobic endurance work."
Tim Exeter. Head of Strength and Conditioning Northampton Saints RFC.

"Having read an article on training with Powerbag I had no doubt of it's potential due to the adaptability it can offer in almost any chosen area of physical training. As a former Soldier now Freelance Personal Trainer, I am always on the look out for new and innovative training equipment, which will help, keep me at the cutting edge of the ever-evolving field I work in. I have found Powerbag an invaluable addition to the training equipment I already incorporate into my training regimes. Whether you are working with children the elderly, disabled people with special needs, group fitness, circuit training, one to one training, weight training, boxing fitness, functional training, core stability training, rehabilitation or the new military fitness training programme I have developed for people preparing for the rigors of a career in the armed forces, then powerbag is a must have item. Mark Bellamy has to be applauded for his tireless work in the development of powerbag, as it is multi functional, rugged and most importantly, fun to work with and easy to use by people of varied age groups skills and abilities."

"I attended the powerbag seminar in Wellington. I have nothing but positive remarks for you. I thought it was very well planned and thought out. I was made to feel like there was a high level of experience and knowledge available to talk to at will. Very impressed. I have used the bags since with a lot of my clients and in between short breathers, their comments have been positive as well. All in all a great few hours spent, and look forward to something similar in the near future."
Scott Montgomery. Less Mills Results Based Personal Trainer.

"At the Massey High Sports Academy we are aim to develop our elite level young sports people. We are always looking at innovative and creative ways to train and condition young athletes of all shapes, size and strengths. On attending the seminars to learn about the SPSS systems, we were blown away at the simplicity of the Powerbag products and the wide range of activities they could be used for. The athletes love using them and have a fun way to improve fitness and test their own abilities. They are safe, user friendly and hot items that are in high demand by our athletes. I would recommend them to any team or organization that aims to improve group or individual fitness across such a wide range of sports."
Candice Yallop. Director of the Massey High Sports Academy.

"After attending the Powerbag seminar and using Powerbags extensively for 5 months, not only did I find the seminar highly informative from basics to the more advanced movements with tons of variations on speed, agility, quickness, strength training, Olympic lifts to Hybrid methods. I would highly recommend that any fitness professional or coach purchase Powerbags to add to their collection of tools. Powerbags not only give you greater bang for your buck with training intensity due to the unstableness (among other things) but they also provide you with options of inside a facility or outside in the park, something you can't do with conventional weights. The Powerbag can train the highly elite athletes to a person looking to increase health or decrease body fat through functional training. If you are serious about taking your clients of all levels to new heights then having the Powerbag in your repertoire is a must!"
Spida Hunter. Director/Performance Trainer. Enhancing Human Performance Ltd.

"I am the strength and conditioning coach to the students at New Zealand School of Dance and have found the bags the most useful tool thus far in training them in lifting techniques. The dancers love the versatility and feel of the bags. I find them perfect for teaching loaded movement patterns before they throw one another around. The bags are also fantastically useful in creating a dynamic core workout for people who use their bodies as a form of expression. Later in the year I start work with the Royal New Zealand Ballet Company and intend on using the bags with the male dancers for the same purpose."
Juliet Annan. Strength and Conditioning Coach NZ School of Dance.

"Modern day professional football requires players to be powerful athletes. Powerbags have enabled us to integrate some of this crucial power-development work into the work we do on the training field. Both the senior and youth squads continue to benefit from the use of Powerbags - I therefore have no qualms recommending Powerbags to those looking to bring another dimension to their conditioning programmes."
Dan Harris. Fitness Coach. Coventry City FC.

Dave Reddin, England Rugby Fitness Advisor.

"A challenging but fun workout with every-single muscle used. Building core strength the safe and fun way."

"Having had the use of the Powerbag®, we agree that this is an excellent tool for training. We have certainly seen some pleasing results from our trials and would have no hesitation recommending them."
Tony O'Brien MSc, Fitness Conditioner, Warrington Wolves Rugby League Club.

"The use of your power bags have been an invaluable aid in the development of the sporting achievements of the pupils in this school. We have been using them in our circuit training and are really appreciating the added range of movement and strength development. The year nine group who worked with you think they are wonderful as it enables the less physically mature do strength training in a safe way. Currently the year tens has been introduced to them and they were gob smacked how much fun they are as well as being developmental to so many areas in their training. They could compare themselves and to the younger year nines and found out that they were not as strong or mobile as the lads we have spent time with over the last couple of months."
Mike Stubbs, Bishops School Hereford.

"I was searching for a piece of equipment like the Powerbag for years. It is definitely one piece of equipment all strength and conditioning specialists must have access to. The introduction of the Powerbag into our training has been very successful in producing explosive ballistic style training, normally difficult to achieve in regular strength training environments. This allows me to focus particularly well on acceleration-strength throughout the entire range of movements into throws, effectively eliminating the deceleration aspects of dumbbell and barbell training. The players really enjoy displaying feats of explosive strength, and can really feel the benefits in their core-specific musculature and the excitation of their CNS using this type of core training. They are so easy to use and provide an even greater variety into the training environment. The number of exercises and uses are only limited to the imagination of the coach."
Haydn Masters, Head of Athlete Performance, London Broncos RLFC.

"The Powerbag is a great idea, being able to pack it away and take it away for warm weather training is really useful. One distinct advantage of the Powerbag over conventional weights is the fact that there is give in the bag when you lift due to the straps and filling which means that your core stability muscles have to compensate for the change in balance and are thus much more involved in all exercises."
Jethro Binns, Welsh International Squash player.

Powerbags - Filling & Care

To fill the Powerbag use coarse grain sand such as sharp sand that is dry, as wet sand may rot the liner. We recommend filling the bag outside to avoid any mess. Sharp sand is recommended as other types of sand grain may bind together prevent the free flow of material inside the Powerbag.

1.) Unzip the lid to the Powerbag and fold back the end cap.
2.) Remove the 2 zip-ties then open the waterproof bag folding it back over the edge of the Powerbag outer casing, do the same with the inner nylon bag to allow it to be filled.
3.) Place the Powerbag on some scales.
4.) fill the bag with the necessary amount of sand in order to get it to the correct weight and then pull the drawstring cord tight then tie off the bag with a zip-tie. Make sure to get the ties as tight as possible and leave some room from the end of the bag to allow the sand to flow.
4.) You will then need to tie a knot in the plastic bag and tie off with the other zip-tie.
6.) Once the bags have been pushed back into the Powerbag shell, you will need to zip the Powerbag shut.

We suggest that you periodically check the inner bags to check for any damage to them, or leaking of sand that may occur from using the bag.

  • Store your Powerbag away from sunlight.
  • Although Powerbags are ideal for outdoor use, if they do become soaked.
  • For any reason dry them out and replace the sand.
  • Wipe clean with a damp cloth periodically.
